My 15th Birthday

The best birthday yet 🙂

2nd of April. It wasn’t the most amusing day, but it was a day I felt love and gratefulness. The moment the hour-hand hit 12, I received so many messages that gave me big smiles on my face! Many online gifts, and a myriad of mentions of me in their Instagram stories. What touched me was the long letters from some of my friends. They sent me a whole page of paragraphs, and I am so thankful that they used their precious time just for me, to write the best letters one can ever receive❤️ My eyes were filled with tears when I read one of the long letters, yet I have never cried reading a birthday letter! All the messages I received, gave me a certainty that my love, kindness and care were not futile. I am so thankful that I have friends that care about me not just with words but with their hearts. One of my friends even made me seaweed soup! By herself, just for me! Seaweed soup is something you eat on your birthday in Korea. Usually, parents cook the soup for their children, and she has done what parents would do! It was delectable, for such obvious reasons 🙂

Thankfully, the weather was amazing, too. Cherry blossoms in full bloom, pink snowy petals angelically falling down as the gentle breeze twirls them around. The sun was spreading its warmth over our heads, just enough to enjoy it. It is a blessing that my birthday is in the midst of spring. Such a stunning season it is!

It was a meaningful day since I cleaned the seaside with my friends. It was a church thing but I have good friends there too 🙂 They surprised me with presents and birthday cards which I totally did not expect!

The wind was extremely strong but still, we had fun chitchatting while picking up trash harming nature. When you live on an island, you tend to forget the beauty of the coast and the beauty of the colour of the sea. It’s always there, you don’t realise how special it is. I should appreciate the nature around me more, I am given the best gift; living in Jeju!

I had a wonderful rest of the afternoon with my family, had a lovely dinner, and had a scrumptious birthday cake! Oh, I also received an email from my year 6 tutor congratulating my birthday, which made me so glad since I left junior school almost 3 years ago. I also write her a birthday card every February, along with a small present! I am always grateful that she still remembers my birthday and sends me a sweet email.

I finished off my birthday by writing a long long diary 🙂 This day made me feel loved and that I am worthy of all the compliments and appreciation I got! And I owe everything to God❤️
